Any damaged subfloor timber can be replaced, we use metal ant cap. We prefer to use Kordon termite barrier, a quality product which provides a damp-proof barrier as well as termite protection. We find this to be a better option than metal ant-caps as ant-caps only provide an indication of the presence of termites, rather than actually controlling them. After all, how many people look under their homes to check for the presence of termites, and then call the pest-controller?
What subfloor do I need? There are a lot of factors that will affect what sort of subfloor your home uses. Your home's subfloor is a very important structural element - it needs to support the weight of the entire house, and at the same time protect it from soil movement and settling. If your home's subfloor isn't adequate or appropriate, you're likely to have all kinds of permanent, extremely expensive problems with your home.
